Hi i’am dodobeg and I would have liked to know if is there any update on the possibility of aligning a background image to the top, middle, or bottom?

As of right now Penpot has no anchors for background images, so they will basically be filling or contained inside an object. If you want to have such control, add the image as an separated object to a frame that would be the visible part of the image. There you can manage things like size and position. Make sure to have the clip content option set to ON to avoid the overflow of the image

Most probably at some point after the implementation of the new render engine.
