Advanced Background Image Control & Native Background Blur

I am writing to express my strong support for two essential features that I believe are critical for professional design workflows in Penpot: Background Image Positioning/Sizing and Background Blur.

Currently, the lack of granular control over background images specifically the ability to precisely position and define scaling behavior significantly hinders my workflow. When working with complex layouts, having to rely on workarounds is inefficient and often produces imprecise results.

Furthermore, Background Blur (backdrop filter) is now a standard requirement for modern UI design, particularly for glassmorphism and overlay effects. Its absence is a major gap that limits the visual fidelity of designs created within Penpot.

I understand that feature development requires careful prioritization. However, if full implementation is currently blocked by roadmap constraints, I propose an alternative: could the core team prioritize the necessary API or plugin infrastructure to support these properties?

If the native implementation is going to take significant time, providing hooks for the community to build plugins that handle these CSS properties would be a fantastic bridge. If the backend/renderer can support the underlying engine changes, we as a community would be more than willing to develop the plugin solutions required to bridge this functionality gap until native integration is complete.

I would love to hear if there are plans to expose these CSS capabilities to the plugin system in the near future.
