I’m really confused why this wasn’t made a priority for the initial release of components 2.0 and I’m even more confused why the work still looks like it hasn’t been started (Taiga)? Am I missing something? This is a seriously huge missing feature that I and I’m sure others require before we can even take this application seriously as a replacement for whichever app we’re coming from.

Agreed. I am very supportive of penpot but can not seriously use it for any work without component variants (called “states” in Adobe xd)
There has not been good messaging in this issue from penpot leadership. Originally I heard variants would be in 2.0 and the they weren’t and never heard aby follow up on why or when they would be. I understand it’s a very complex feature but it’s also very necessary and communication has been lacking.
