Struggling with scrolling layout

I’m really disappointed with this issue, I’m just starting a new work project and this happened. Penpot team must warn this is a limitation.

I was confused and than shocked too.
There is at least some activity for this severe issue.

But no one is assigned for integration. Fingers crossed it’s a doable code change.
Can imagine that it will take some time. Must be a deep change, I think.

Any updates on this one? Can’t wait to see this issue addressed to a dev

Hi there, I am a professor in a design graduation in a public university in Brazil. We are always dealing with constant threat of underfunding. Thus, regarding both funding and autonomy, Free and Open Source is a constant goal for me. I am always trying to persuade students to adopt FOSS, instead of proprietary.
First I would like to say that Penpot is a great software and is a game-changing in the world of designing UX and UI. I would like to contribute as much as possible to publicize it.

But I must confess that every time I present Penpot as an alternate to Figma in classes, the absence of scrolling is decisive to make students choose one over the other. It is a key feature that prevent students for adopting it early in their careers.

Penpot 2.5 is out now and the problem still remains. Although adding multi-step gradient is pleasing and enjoyable, I believe this is a minor upgrade compared with the need of consistent scrolling features.

I argue this specially because even in lower-resolution prototypes, such as wireframes or early prototypes, there is still need of scrolling. Is great to have options for better gradients, but this aspect is better suited for high definition prototypes only.

I hope I can see this question addressed soon.

Hello @rickartur, most likely, they will only move forward with this after migrating from the canvas with SVG to another format. I’m starting to think that the way they made Penpot so focused on SVG is what’s preventing them from implementing this at the moment.

Well, that seems to be a problem then.
While the use of SVG, as an open format, may be great for autonomy and interoperability, this may also be a drawback for implementing key features.
