Would you be able to add a darkmode theme to this Discourse instance?

To me, white is hard on the eyes.

I’m aware, that it might cause accessibility issues for some:

We’ve already created a Penpot Dark theme for this community site. It is available at your user preferences → Interface.

As you said, the key thing here is that the user has the availability to choose. It is a WIP theme but hope that fits your needs.

Also, there’s an official Discourse component for toggling dark and light mode. It could be a nice addition, so users don’t need to navigate to their preferences:
