I’m curious about whether you truly trust Penpot to safeguard your work. The inability to click “save as” or “save” after using it for some time creates anxiety; it feels like a crash, a browser closing, or an accidental tab shut could erase all my progress. Do you have any advice on how to feel secure and ensure that I can save my progress periodically for peace of mind? Your insights would be greatly appreciated.
There’s no need to worry, Penpot has never lost anything for me. But I totally understand the anxiety… I got it when I first started working on apps with autosave. (Shout out to everyone who has the cmd/ctrl + S keyboard shortcut in their muscle memory!)
There are a few things you can do if you need some reassurance:
- Save a version.
- Export/download your Penpot file periodically.
Neither of these are necessary, but might give you some confidence.
If you look at the top left corner of your screen right before your file name, you’ll see a dot.
If it’s green, it means your file’s been saved. Whenever you change something, that dot turns orange during saving, then comes back to green so you know it’s saved your work properly.
However, I also recommend exporting your file to your computer, just in case the server gets hit by an asteroid.
Thanks! Saving a version and downloading the file sounds unnecessary good for me!
LOL That comment make my day.
