This is definitely not the first time we openly discuss this multifaceted topic but it is the first time you will find our comprehensive analysis on the industry and a clear description of our roadmap; an open-source roadmap!

I won’t shy away from the fact that our AI Whitepaper is very critical of some of the current industry trends and technological approaches. But it also shows what we are building instead, and why we strongly believe it represents a much more hopeful and exciting foundation for the future of software building.
So, whether you use Penpot or not, this is a must read if UI design intersects with your interests or daily work.
Parraphrasing the document’s Final remarks section: we have “a sacred rule at Penpot; we build in the open, you remain in control”.
