Is self hosted less laggy?

If I am working on a project with a ton of images, penpot gets laggy. Is self-hosted generally less laggy? If the official penpot.app had the option for a better server for a monthly fee, I would 100% sign up. Servers cost money, so I understand if the resources for the free one are not top tier.

According to me, you shouldn’t use “ton of images” in prototypes since it’s supposed to replicate “how it should work”, not a full working website.
Just my two cents.

I agree 100%, I was making a mood board for a client before I moved on to prototyping. It’s something I used to do in figma all the time
