Hi everyone ! Hope you are doing well !
I have a quick question for the penpot experts here.
Keen on open source, I wanted for a long time to try out penpot in place of Figma. The occasion is kind of forced on me with my resume being too heavy for some applications systems (>1 MB, even after compression of the resulting PDF).
I knew the issue was mainly coming from how Figma handle and embed text and groups in the PDF. I have to say I am quite impressed with Penpot on that end. The exact same resume is 359 KB, miles away from the original and uncompressed 2600 KB of Figma.
I did the mask trick, to have my resume image nice and without compression.
However, I don’t understand how hyperlinks are handled. Literacy on it says it is not yet implemented, which is the case and I feel that is a bit of a shame for resume design (but not that essential for GUI prototyping). However, for some reason, the exported PDF does feature the mailto hyperlink (but not the phone one).
Does anyone have intel on how this hyperlink is generated? For information, I use librewolf PDF viewer, and the phone number is in the French format (packed by two digits).
My guess would be that penpot recognise my email format, automatically putting the hyperlink at PDF generation. Meanwhile, because my phone number is in the French format, it is not parsed as a phone, therefore not having a hyperlink.
I would be curious if anyone have a definitive answer on it ! Thanks for anyone having a lead on it ![]()
