How to work with client? Project/Teams/Clients management

Howdy! I’ve just started using Penpot! I’m coming from XD and Figma, and I’m loving it!!

There are still things I’m learning, but one of the first questions I have is how to collaborate with more people. I understand there are two scenarios: creating a team to work on development (either UI or programming) or showing the work to the client and seeking feedback.

In other tools, this last part is simple because you can make anonymous comments to the prototype, which helps receive client feedback. But from what I see in this case, you have to make them members of the project and you can’t invite them to a specific file.

The question/suggestion is to know how the community does it, since it seems somewhat complex to me to have to create a project for each client, and then them have to register and access the interface when they often won’t understand it or even need to.

I understand that these questions arise because I’m coming from tools that work differently and that I still have to learn. I’m working on it!

Thanks in advance.

Clients can comment on your files without being part of your team, they just require a Penpot account.

They can sign up (and login) from the share link generated in View mode, which will return them to the view mode. This minimises how much of the interface clients will need to learn or understand. You can also select which boards appear in view mode (scroll down to the section on Show in view mode.) which is useful if you only want to share specific boards. This is probably the ideal way to work with clients, as the teams are more designed for people collaborating on Penpot files.

I’d be happy to create a view mode guide/tutorial for users like this if you think it would be helpful? Perhaps something similar to this basic tutorial on the blog.

Thanks for sharing your use case in such detail! I think the Penpot team will really find this helpful when designing future features.
