How can I specify Inter italics?

I’m trying to use Inter through Google Fonts. Inter has an italic. But I can’t figure out how to use it in Penpot. I don’t see an Italic button or option in the typographic tools. I can’t specify Inter Italic manually in any way that I can figure out.

I feel like I must be missing something really obvious. Please be gentle if I am.

Okay, I selected text and command-I finally worked for me. For some reason I feel like I tried that before and it hadn’t. But I guess I must have done something wrong.

Still seems odd that it’s not available in the Text UI.

Font weight and style (italics) are under the same dropdown menu alongside the font size. I can see why this is tricky to discover, as Inter has a lot of weights so you have to scroll for a while to get the to italics!

Ohhhhhhhh! There they are! Yeah, I hadn’t scrolled past 900. :man_facepalming: Thanks, Laura.

Okay, now that I see it, I understand the decision to put the italics here rather than adding an italics button. Perhaps I’m the only person who has ever had this problem, but I wonder if sorting numerically would be more intuitive? Or at least more discoverable?

100
100 Italic
200
200 Italic

and so on?
