Hi penpoters,
Do you know about Wikipedia design team and their design system “Codex”?
I think their values align pretty well with Penpot´s and would be great to bring them in like other open source projects like Blender.
Take a look to this posts about how was creating Wikipedia´s design system and how they deal with apps.
A good exercise to learn about design systems and design tokens would be to recreate existing design systems such as Codex in Penpot. Right now they use Figma and document it using this web @LauraKalbag @Elena_Alcalde_Rueda
I am even fantasising with the idea of inviting Wikipedia design team at Penpot Fest @medetcan @diacritica
Let´s bring in Wikipedia to Penpot!

Hey @gabriel thank you so much for sharing this.
I think you’d be happy to know that we have already been in touch both with Fatuma, and Matthew Williams from the Wikimedia team, who Fatuma has worked closely with.
They are indeed working on moving towards Penpot given both organisations’ natures.
This is an excellent callout and I’m certain the Wikimedia team will appreciate any help from our community.
Lastly, we are indeed in talks with them about Penpot Fest, so let’s see what comes up!

Btw, I’m trying to download the Codex figma file to convert it to Penpot but the file is view only.
As you have contact with Wikipedia Design team, could you ask them to send us the file or make it downloadable so we can test it?
Thanks!
