We are thrilled to introduce Pencil, Penpot’s design system, with which we continue to build our product. We have created this design system for you to discover our interface and find out how to apply the principles of the design system to your projects.
The main goal was to organize the file we were working with so that we could share styles and components in a segmented and organized way, keeping a previous structure and iterating it with new components and features of the product.
A Design System to rule them all
We always say that Penpot is a tool for designers and developers, the design system could not be less, we have added communication elements to the structure, explaining in detail each component. If at any time there is any unclear element within the design system, do not hesitate to let us know. You can use this Design System to create designs and features to contribute to our community or just to play around and discover how flexible Penpot can be when it comes to design. We would love for you to try it out and send us your feedback.
One of the challenges of this build process has been doing it on a design tool that is evolving as we go along, with some features still in progress and making our work more flexible to those features, so stay tuned for future changes to this file when we have new features on the way, stay tuned for Component Variants and Design Tokens!
Download the file from our Libraries and Templates page and let us know your opinions and possible improvements.
