Is this worth for Transfer Figma To Penpot

:waving_hand: Hey design community!
Has anyone tried https://figma-to-penpot.zerstro.com/ to transfer Figma files to Penpot?

Is it worth using for a real project?
Curious about the quality and what actually carries over.
I check some files which really worked!

Hello @David_Wright

Never seen that before… Maybe I’ll test this later tonight to see how far it can go.

i think you need to check from small desgin. some big not working

I’ve tested and it works, but with a few issues…

  • All my screens from a project that were inside a section are just gone, so… it doesn’t see anything that is inside sections while converting;
  • Every image seems to be imported without considering aspect ratio and position, maybe this is also part Penpot’s fault, as there’s no precise control over the aspect ratio and positioning of an image being used as fill;
  • It doesn’t convert styles to Penpot format;
  • It doesn’t convert text to the default Penpot font if the original font used on the project is not present in Penpot;

This is as far as I’ve noticed on my tests. It seems promising, but it has considerable room for improvement.

What’s wrong with using the Penpot main export plugin for figma?

  • As for image aspect ratio ya Penpot doesn’t have a way yet to use fill, cover, repeat, etc.
    Not sure why they haven’t worked on this yet.⁣ :thinking:

  • Also, styles don’t get converted either with normal Penpot export

Other than that, the normal Penport export plugin seems to work fine for me.

As @Scarlywebs mentioned, I would recommend the Penpot Exporter plugin.

I’m dropping the link here just in case someone doesn’t know about it https://www.figma.com/community/plugin/1219369440655168734/penpot-exporter
