I trying to convert a text like path and I couldn’t, someone knows how to do this?

At figma I can, they call Flatten Text, at Penpot I not found it.

Hi @rickbenetti,

As for right now that is not possible. This is a feature request we had before, and we already have it in our backlog:

I’d like to second the demmand for this feature as it’s something not easily solvable elsewhere and it’s essential for some use cases (e.g.: for making sure logos sale correctly when made into components)

Yeah, this should be a must

Any update here @carolina.portugal ? This would be a huge bonus for the app.

Created a small plugin for flatten text, who wants to try it out, here is the link → https://flatten-text.girafic.net/manifest.json (works only with Google fonts at the moment)

So, is it still not possible to convert text to path ? Or is it me not finding how to do it ?

I got to this thread, because I googled how to do this in penspot. And got my answer as it seems

Please, I need more control over the fonts in a design project and creating the paths would be very helpful.

Hi! This is already solved when using the WebGL render. This render is still in Beta, but it’s possible to flatten a text.

I’m attaching a gif, you can also do right click > flatten:

As this feature is new, let us know if you experience any issue so we can take a look at it. Thanks!

Wow this is an awesome tip. I’ve been struggling with converting text to path in penpot for a while now. It finally decided to search for it. Experimental WebGL ey? Who would have thought

It works without any plugins :tada: . Minor issue, it’s not staying on the same position.

I noticed that, it seems to take geometric center as “pivot point”, but the center of the font space is different from the center of the letter space.
