Hi there,
I’ve been playing around in penpot for a while now and have been using it to design updates for my website. Today I tried out the design tokens and created all the tokens that I needed. While trying out the tokens some questions came up and I started looking around the community for answers.
I’ve read that the penpot team is working on adding more tokens and making the namings appear in various places like the inspect window. Which would be really nice!
What I couldn’t find was what will happen with the asset library. It seems like it will become kinda useless except for the creation of components. But especially the “colors” in the asset library are now more or less a duplicate of the design token colors. And the text styles also don’t really make sense if one can’t connect any token values to create the different styles. Maybe I’m missing something?
My main question is: Will there be a connection between these two tabs in the future or will one replace the other? Because maintaining both tabs seperatly seems like a lot of work.
My feature request would be that one could apply design tokens to the components library. Like creating a text style out of a color-token, font-size-token, spacing-token and a font-family for example.
