We needed a faster way to move color variables from Figma to Penpot, so I built a plugin to do just that while migrating the Detachless UI kit to Penpot.
Now it’s free for anyone making the switch.
Try it out, and let us know what you think any feedback, bugs, ideas all welcome!
For those working on Figma > Penpot migrations, I recently added this workflow to my free TokenForge plugin. It allows you to export W3C design tokens while preserving aliases, modes, and structure, thus optimizing the migration to Penpot without breaking anything or losing any information.
Hey @robinlopez
Your plugin is interesting because, in Figma, the W3C token import isn’t really implemented. In addition, when you’re importing a set (especially if you’re doing multi-themes and multi-brands, you have as many collections as component sets. And if you haven’t bought an enterprise plan, switching between appearances won’t be a piece of cake).
I did a reverse component build because I started building components in code, then needed to translate that work into Figma and Penpot for my design.
The import of W3C tokens can be a pain reliever to succeed with this translation.
