Feature Request: Better Bezier Handle Control

Hi Penpot team,

I’d like to request bezier curve editing features that exist in Sigma Design but are currently missing in Penpot:

1. Delete individual control handles independently

  • In Sigma: Ctrl + Click on a control handle removes only that handle, leaving the other one intact

  • In Penpot: Currently not possible to remove just one handle from an anchor point

2. Independent (asymmetric) control handles on the same anchor point

  • In Sigma: In some cases, both handles on a single anchor point can be manipulated independently - they don’t have to be symmetrical or linked

  • In Penpot: Handles appear to be linked/symmetrical on smooth points

Use cases:

  • Creating sharp transitions on one side while maintaining a smooth curve on the other

  • Fine-tuning curve entry/exit angles independently

  • More precise control over path shapes without adding extra anchor points

  • Matching specific design requirements where one side needs different curvature

I agree that path manipulation could be improved significantly (which I imagine will happen with the new rendering engine), but it seems to me that operations 1 and 2 can also be done in Penpot.
By holding alt you can manipulate the handles independently. To remove one, just drag it to the anchor point with snapping enabled (the magnet icon on the right in the toolbar); it’s a bit more cumbersome than a single click, but the end result is the same.
