Design Tokens Integration

I have seen a graph showing how the features would be implemented through 2025 here.

Somewhere in between Q1 and Q2 (April - June) they have planned to have a softlaunch (I imagine a preview / testing environment).
If you are interested in testing it right now, the team of Toten Studio have a penpot instance with some features available. You can ask here

That’s right! We’re pretty close to launching the first version of Penpot Design Tokens, which we intend to improve by releasing more capabilities shortly after.

Cant wait! I think this will be a big reason to use Penpot over Figma

Here’s a recent super short demo with a walkthrough of the key features that serves as a sneak peek for the first version of Design Tokens that we’ll release soon.

I am new to penpot. I have built

two large design system figma

I found your design tokens great features

but I don’t feel this shared “assets” is great like it is. I will explain more.

You buil a design system in a project file. In this design system you have the:

  • components
  • colors
  • typos

Great but in this project you expect to have the tokens for multi themes, branding, whitelabels that you have as tokens not assets.

Same for general spacing etc you expect in another project so file I believe or even other project to just import the library so.

  • components,
  • colors with the semantics colors and being able to define the set and theme you want
  • use the general spacing etc so when you want gap between elements it becomes super standard and you can just define some general values like scales, gaps between projects.

I am not sure why this shared assets outside of images, stuff like this is useful.

So far I really like the tool and have fun using the mcp

Feel free to tell me If I am wrong and doing something wrong. I am watching as much video as you give us.

But so far this part is unclear to me or just not here.

Thank you for your work !
