In Figma it is possible to program actions that toggle between variants, e.g. after a click event. The screenshot shows an example of how I create an interactive play/pause button:
Suggested Feature
It would be so amazing, if you can implement a Change to option as well in Penpot.
Current Workaround
To mimic this behavior, in Penpot I have to create individual boards for every possible state and then use e.g. navigate to:Paused. Of course, with many buttons with many states, this isn’t an option.

EDIT
Just recreated this Post and deleted the last one, for minor improvements in the text and to add some Tags. Somehow I was not allowed to edit my freshly created post… probably, since I’ve just created this account?!
I’d love to be able to re-use components, allowing interactions to change the variant will help in that. I could make pull-down menu’s interactive for example
onClick → set Variant Value “Folded” to true.
Which should change the visual appearance of said Variant, to whatever matches.
