What is the advantage of using graphic assets instead of components?

Hi, i’ve look through several icon libraries in penpot and noticed that all of em treat icons as graphics type assets.
However, I was familiar with a different approach where icons are treated as component assets, so you can easily swap em in your components (I know this will be available later with penpot 2.0).

Let’s consider a typical scenario: I have a button component with an icon inside of it. I often need to swap icon depending on the context I’m using my button. Will I be able to swap icon if it is treated as graphic type?
So what is the particular use case and advantage of using graphic type of assets?
