Border on specific sides only

Is there a way to add a border to a rectangle only on e.g. left and right side?

Hi @alexzeitler

Yo can add a border to a shape or group using the “Stroke” option at the right sidebar.

Anyway, create an specific border top, left, right or bottom is not available yet.

Is this on the roadmap / is there a GitHub issue I can follow (or do y’all use Jira)?

Sorry, here it is at Taiga.

Hi, will this feature be available in a near future ? We love penpot, but this feature is so important since it is closer to what our frontend developers do to make borders that it is kind of a deal breaker for us for all of our projects. We found a way around that with shadows with no blur but it is not very satisfying and quite limiting for several applications.

@juan.delacruz would love to see this

Looking at taiga i´d say nobody´s working on it at the moment.

@juan.delacruz Could you please give us an update on what we can expect? This question is years old, and we have no clue of what to expect.

Hello everyone!

In the case of the functionality to create specific borders for each side, we are limited by the SVG format. However, as you can see in Penpot’s roadmap for this year, the Penpot team is working on a new rendering engine that will not only allow us to significantly improve the workspace’s performance but also enable features such as creating specific borders for each side.

The development of the new engine is in progress, and we hope to share new advancements with you soon.

Thank you very much. That’s great news. I was wondering if the problem was the old render engine, and whether the solution would be with the new render engine. Looking forward to it. Keep up the great work!
