[Penpot is licensed under the MPL](https://github.com/penpot/penpot/blob/develop/LICENSE). This means that you can build upon penpot ’s code, but you need to share that new code again under and open source license (there are [some details to that; you can read this up on Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozilla_Public_License)).
