New guy arriving, looking for best way to contribute

Hello,

I’m an experienced software engineer with large experience in Clojure, also a Free Software enthusiast and a 20+ years Debian user. I’m looking to contribute to Penpot but not sure how to get started, as there are lots of issues and PRs and I feel like I could be helpful in multiple fronts such as:

  • bug triage / try to reproduce bugs, add useful info to an open issue
  • review PRs and add comments / suggestions / LGTM
  • code new features or fix bugs
  • participate on engineering discussions / decisions

I am very pragmatic and I normally use my “old school” approach before attempting to ask AI what to do. I see some open source projects losing control of the direction because of AI pushing too much and too fast and I want to help Penpot avoid that.

Any tips or suggestions are appreciated.

Cheers

Hello @iggar, we are super happy that you would like to contribute. Usually we have a bigged good first issue list, but lately we are getting a lot of help from the community. Take a look there: Issues · penpot/penpot · GitHub

I am checking with the team on where else you could help in the meantime.
